May 2011 is already upon us and the warm sun is welcome here in Colorado. We at symbolic insight have been busy finishing projects and preparing for an eventful summer. Here is the latest;

LIVE EVENTS
Join us this Sunday, May 8, at 7 p.m., as symbolic insight presents textures monthly ambient showcase at the Gypsy House cafe, 1279 Marion st. in Denver. We will start off the evening with the project, day dissolved dream, featuring Dennis from Orbit Service and then, from WireTrap, Chris will explore epic ambient soundscapes as In Reign of Rain. Symbolic insight presents the fifth annual transistor electronic sound art festival on June 10, 11, and 12, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. This year's transistor has three venues; our primary venue, the Walnut Room (3131 Walnut st.), the Walnut Room Pizzeria (2 S. Broadway) hosting pair of all-ages shows on Friday and Saturday, and the Gypsy House (1279 Marion St.), hosting textures ambient transistor collective on Sunday night, also all-ages. The Walnut Room is for ages 21 and up and will feature 10 acts in the main room each night and a few acts in the front room as well. Friday night showcases local acts Iuengliss, In Better Senses, Brocken Spectre, and Acidbat to mention a few. Saturday will feature national acts, Not Breathing (AZ) fresh off his tour with Download, Jeremy Winters (NY), Galactic Vacationer (MI) and, the 47th Star (NM), as well as locals, kuxaan-sum, Shadowcaster, KONTROLLED DEMOLITION, and entropic advance. Sunday will again focus upon local talent with WIRETRAP, Dsquise, Circle Six, and Tier 6. We are looking forward to another amazing weekend of electronic innovators and we are excited to be working with Randall and the Walnut Room.

LABEL UPDATE
sonolumina's debut album, "solar logos" is finished and currently being manufactured for release this summer. Six years in the making, this project was created and recorded at symbolic insight studios in Nederland, Colorado. This cd features an experimental electronic IDM sound, which combines world percussion, lush ambient palettes, and heavy bass pulses. The cd showcases:
- bahiya (jewl petteway) on zils and processed violin, flute, and vocals
- bios+a+ic (wesley davis) created the electronic beats and fused it with various drum layers provided by Jonathan Brummett and Erik Brown. He also added processed trumpet, vocals, and samples to the mix.
- Bass guitar contributed by Leon Arguello
- Handmade banjola played by Al Petteway.
- Field recordings gathered in India by Cindy Miller
- Strings, accordion and vocals by Terra Petteway Davis.

We are very excited about this release as it is the birth of the new project, sonolumina. We plan to support our first release with live multimedia performances locally and nationally.

Symbolic insight is an experimental electronic music company founded in 1998 by Wesley Davis (aka bios+a+ic). Currently based in Nederland, Colorado, si includes a studio, a label, and event productions. Jewl Petteway (aka bahiya) is an integral part of the process, assisting with organization, operation, promotion, and management since 2006. As a production company, symbolic insight in going on three years of hosting textures (Westword's Best ambient showcase, 2009) and this will be the fifth year for transistor electronic sound art festival. After a huge success last year, Jewl will again be hosting Egyptian dance legend ("the Fred Astaire of Egypt"), Mahmoud Reda, for an event and workshop August 20-21 at the Mercury Cafe (raqsjawahir.com). bahiya and bios+a+ic both perform live and record solo, as well as performing in the ambient noise duo called usA (unbridled sonic Anarchy), in the ambient industrial project, entropic advance with Mike Stacey (circle six), and as the transglobal experimental IDM project, sonolumina. http://symbolicinsight.com.
